Christmas in Orlando

The smell of the freshly cooked turkey and the sight of all the goodies makes my mouth water. We are trying a new dessert tries at Sweet Tomatoes...sweet potatoes with apples. Looks good doesn't it? Hmmmm...discovered that i can only upload at the same time as posting using the android app. Will post the photo separately.

A unique "weigh" to anchor tablecloths

Found a great way to anchor tablecloths...use fresh apples. Use an awl to pierce a channel through two apples from top to bottom. Thread twine through the channels, from the top of one to the bottom of the other.  Use just enough twine to stretch across the table and hang over the edge about 6-8 inches. Tie a two inch twig to the ends of the twine to keep the apples from sliding off.

Tried Pinterest yet?

I have to admit when I got my first invite, I ignored it. I sure didn't need one more thing to take care of. Then someone at work asked if I had tried it yet. I had to admit I hadn't. I decided it was time to check it out. I mean, I can always unsubscribe, right?

Little did I know how addictive it would become because IT IS SO MUCH FUN. I am having so much fun finding things to "pin" that I lose track of time. So what is it?

It's like an online bulletin board. Or if it's easier, it's like a file cabinet with folders you create for different topics or your computer with different folders for different subjects.

Being crafts-minded, I started with crafts as my first folder, or "board" as they refer to it. I have since added recipes, decorating ideas, cool gadgets, etc. Whenever I find an idea I like on the web, I "pin" it. I can even "pin" ideas others have discovered. If I find someone that seems to like a lot of the same type of things as me, I will "follow" them and tap into their "pins".

It's a whole lot of fun and you need to try it. Come on, you can do it...just type in www.pinterest.com and press "Request an invite". Get ready for a whole new world of fun.

spring fever

Getting flowers painted and put in a new section of fence. Looks so good. Had to do it in the rain, but so worth it. Now relaxing and getting ready to watch the finales for Survivor and Apprentice. Yeah, I know...light stuff.

A Little Bird Told Me...

Dear Overwhelmed Girl,

Do you have the completely irrational belief that so many of us have? That you can be everything to everyone, especially to those that you love? Do you believe it's your job to keep them all happy, to help them with everything that they are struggling with and to then go out and save the world in your free time?

Do you over commit and then beat yourself up when you under-deliver?

Are there a million things on your list that were really really important that you didn't even get to because you got caught up in doing things that weren't nearly as important?

OK now, take a deep breath. Now take another one. One more.

Remember that you are wonderful. You are loved. And phenomenal friend, amazing woman, you are a human being. You DO have limitations and it is totally okay for you to say no sometimes. Lots of times. In fact, it is essential.

When you don't stop to rest, to think, to recharge, to remember, to restore, you end up grouchy, tired, uncreative, angry, and numb to lots of life. You are a sparkling beautiful girl and we need that sparkle. So STOP today and make a list, prioritize it, be realistic. Say no to at least three things today. Practice.

Say yes to yourself, to joy, to rest, to being 100% present to the things that matter most to you, instead of a tired and diluted version who has too much to do to ever do her best at ANYTHING. Don't lose yourself while you are trying to be everything to everyone.

If at all possible, only have enough on your plate that you can do your best at everything you do. Your life will take on new meaning and happiness.

Just practice. This is a hard one, but so worth it. Hang in there! You are loved!

xoxo

A little bird told me...

Dear Super Smart Girl,

Never let anything steal your soul. Never let anything blow your light out.

Be willing to walk away from things that feel wrong. Know that you have the ability to be a light in the darkness, and don't allow the darkness to dim YOU in any way.

Choose to put your energy in places where you want to grow more of what there already is, and don't put any more energy in places that you have outgrown or that you want to be free from.

Life can be good and joyful and light-filled and wonderful. You get to choose EVERY DAY where to put your energy -- every single day.

Choose wisely, beautiful girl, and life will unfold in beautiful ways.

xoxo

"A little bird told me" - your Daily Truth from The Brave Girls Clubbr> www.bravegirlsclub.com

I am a brave girl!

I found a blog that is so cool. It was started by Melody Ross, a famous scrapbook designer. It's called Brave Girls Club. I was fascinated by its title and as I read it, loved it. She has online classes with artistic projects involved as well as journaling. The classes are called Soul Restoration classes. I was blessed to have won one and I am now taking it. If you have never heard of it, check it out and tell me what you think.

Change is good...

Saw some projects on the internet which fascinated me. Mini albums make out of toilet paper tissue rolls. Your first reaction is probably like mine. Yuck! After watching a few creations, I decided to try it myself. Tell me what you think! And...try it yourself.

Cricut Crazy

Mike bought me a Cricut cutting machine and I am still learning to use it. You can make cards, make wall words, use it for scrapbooking, etc. I have been looking for project ideas on the internet and found a lot. I discovered a bunch of YouTube video projects. Cool.

My first project was a phrase that I put on my suv, "REDISCOVER your library". Appropriate don't you think, since I work in a library? The next projects were Christmas gifts where I made ceramic placques with people's names on them. They display on a stand. People really liked them and I had fun doing them.

We visited our FL grandsons and they had a lot of fun with the Cricut. Nathan loves to draw and I thought it would be cool to put the words, "Art gallery" on the wall with all the pictures he has drawn. We put different sized gears on another wall. Benjamin wanted to have baseball graphics and fireworks on his. Plus, I put a motivational phrase on one of his walls. We had a ton of fun playing with my new cricut.

Stay tuned for more projects using my cricut.
